01 Your Role at a Glance

As a Club Host, you're the heartbeat of an open community group. You don't need to have all the answers โ€” you just need to show up, start conversations, and make people feel welcome to participate.

What You AreWhat You're Not
A conversation starter and facilitatorA moderator policing every post
The person who keeps things movingExpected to post every single day
A friendly, consistent presenceA therapist or medical advisor
Someone who keeps the conversation goingResponsible for member count growth
Time commitment: Most Club Hosts spend 30โ€“60 minutes per week โ€” a few posts, responding to members, and keeping conversations alive. You set the pace.

02 First Steps After Approval

When your application is approved:

  1. You get the Club Host role โ€” visible on your profile with a Club Host badge.
  2. You're added to the Club Hosts Circle โ€” a private circle just for hosts and admins. Look in your "My Circles" list.
  3. You'll be assigned as a host on one or more clubs (an admin will coordinate this with you).
  4. You'll get an email confirmation with next steps.

03 Anatomy of a Club

Every club has the same set of tabs. Here's what each one does and how you'll use it as a host:

TabWhat It IsYour Job As Host
DiscussionsThe main feed โ€” posts, reactions, commentsPost regularly, respond to members, feature great posts
FeaturedPinned and highlighted postsPin important announcements, highlight great member contributions
ChatReal-time group messagingDrop in occasionally, keep it friendly
ResourcesShared files and documentsUpload helpful materials, organize by topic
MembersWho's in the clubKeep an eye on new joiners, welcome them
AboutClub description and rulesKeep it updated, set clear expectations

04 Creating Great Posts

Posts are the lifeblood of a club. You don't need to write an essay โ€” short and real works best.

Post types

Every post has a type โ€” choose the one that fits:

Conversation starters that work

"What's one thing that went right today?"
Simple, positive, easy to answer. Gets people talking.
"What's your go-to trick for [topic]?"
People love sharing what works for them. Great for exercise, meals, sleep.
"Real talk: what was the hardest part of this week?"
Vulnerability builds connection. Make sure to validate every response.
"I just tried [something new]. Has anyone else?"
Sharing your own experience invites others to share theirs.
"This week's challenge: [small achievable goal]"
Gives the club a shared activity. Follow up with results later.
"Happy [day]! Drop a ๐Ÿค™ if you're doing life today."
Low-effort engagement. Perfect for slow weeks.

How to pin/feature a post

When you see a great post from a member โ€” one that other people should see โ€” you can feature it. Featured posts appear in the "Featured" tab and get highlighted in the feed. Look for the moderator tools (three-dot menu) on any post.

Pro tip: Featuring a member's post is one of the best ways to make them feel valued. It says "what you shared mattered." Do it often.

05 Moderation & Member Management

As a host, you have moderator-level permissions inside your club. Here's what you can do:

Your moderator tools

When to moderate

SituationAction
Off-topic but harmless postGently redirect: "Love this! This might fit even better in [other club]."
Misinformation about treatmentDon't delete โ€” reply with "Always worth checking with your neurologist on this one" and flag to admins if serious
Unkind or hurtful commentDelete and DM the person privately. Post a reminder about community norms if needed.
Spam or clearly inappropriate contentDelete immediately and flag to an admin
Member seems to be in crisisDM them with SOS resources (988 Lifeline, SOS button). Flag in Club Hosts Circle.
Golden rule of moderation: Redirect publicly, correct privately. Never embarrass someone in front of the group.

06 Keeping Engagement Alive

The number one thing that kills a club is silence. Your job isn't to be the only one talking โ€” it's to make it easy for others to talk.

The engagement loop

  1. Post a conversation starter (2โ€“3 times per week is plenty)
  2. React and reply to every member post within 24 hours
  3. Feature great posts โ€” publicly recognize contributions
  4. Ask follow-up questions โ€” "Tell me more!" beats a thumbs-up
  5. Tag quiet members occasionally โ€” "Hey [Name], we'd love to hear your take on this"

When engagement drops

07 Managing Resources

The Resources tab in your club is where you can upload and organize helpful materials for members.

What to put there

How to upload resources

  1. Open your club โ†’ go to the Resources tab
  2. Tap Add Resource
  3. Upload a file or paste a link
  4. Add a title and optional description
  5. Save โ€” members can see and download it immediately

08 Your Club Hosts Circle

The Club Hosts Circle is your behind-the-scenes home base. It's a private, hidden circle only for approved Club Hosts and admins.

09 Weekly Hosting Playbook

Here's a simple weekly rhythm you can follow. Adjust it to fit your life โ€” consistency matters more than frequency.

Monday

Post a conversation starter for the week. Something light โ€” "How's everyone starting the week?" or a themed question.

Wednesday

Respond and engage. Reply to any posts from the past few days. React to everything, comment on at least 2โ€“3 posts. Feature anything great.

Friday

Post a closing prompt โ€” a Win post, weekend challenge, or "share your week" thread. This bookends the week nicely.

As needed

Resources: Upload anything relevant you've found. Moderate: Handle any flagged content promptly.

Remember: This is a guideline, not a rule. Some weeks you'll post daily. Some weeks once. Both are fine. The goal is consistency over time, not perfection every week.

10 Common Questions

Can I host more than one club?

Yes โ€” some hosts manage multiple clubs. Just make sure you can give each one enough attention. Better to be great at one than stretched thin across three.

What if nobody's posting?

Post anyway. Lead by example. Ask direct questions. Feature any response you get, no matter how small. Engagement builds slowly and your consistency is what creates safety for others to participate.

Can I invite a co-host?

Yes! Encourage interested members to apply as Club Hosts through Community โ†’ Get Involved. Once approved, an admin can add them as a co-host on your club.

What if someone is being difficult?

DM them privately first. Most issues are misunderstandings. If it continues, flag it in the Club Hosts Circle or reach out to an admin. Don't try to handle ongoing conflict alone.

Can I also be a Welcome Guide or Circle Host?

Absolutely. You can hold multiple volunteer roles. Apply through Community โ†’ Get Involved.

Where do I go if I need help?

The Club Hosts Circle is your first stop. Other hosts and admins are there to help. For urgent issues, DM an admin directly.

You don't need to be perfect. You just need to keep showing up.
That's what makes a club worth being in.
